Stoner hits back at Rossi

Motogp News

The Doctor is still struggling to make friends

Casey Stoner has not let Valentino Rossi's barb about his manliness slide.

Last week, Rossi criticised Stoner's attitude over their notorious Laguna Seca clash in 2008, stating that Stoner started to 'hate' him and that he had not been 'man enough' to accept being bettered by the Italian.

However, Stoner has hit back on his official Twitter feed, declaring: 'I think Valentino feels a little more brave now that I'm not there.'

Can Rossi resist escalating the war of words?

The relationship between the two riders is generally known to have been irreparably damaged by the events at the United States Grand Prix in 2008. Debate still rages over the conduct of the two riders during and after the event. Stoner stridently declared Rossi's riding to be little short of reckless, and subsequent relations have been cool at best.

For his part, The Doctor seems to be incapable of avoiding controversy in his dealings with Stoner and other riders.
