Stoner criticises Rossi for leaving Ducati

Stoner: 'Rossi didn't put the effort in'

Casey Stoner has criticised Valentino Rossi for giving up on Ducati and returning to Yamaha for next season.

The reigning MotoGP champion is accusing Rossi of not putting the effort into finding the limit with the Ducati and his claim with crew-chief Jeremy Burgess that they would transform the bike into something anyone can win on.

As quoted by AAP, Stoner said:

"They ate their words from day one. Jerry saying that it would take him 80 seconds to fix that bike and that it was a simple issue and now they have had almost two years and have not made any inroads.

"Valentino obviously doesn't want to push limits and ride a bike that is not perfect, he has admitted that. Obviously he doesn't want to put the effort in with Ducati.''

In 2013 Rossi will begin his second stint on the Yamaha - where the Italian won four championships and took 46 race wins - after struggling aboard the Desmosedici with only two podiums from 27 races.

"I just feel completely sorry for Ducati that Valentino has gone there and done nothing, but complain about the bike for almost two years," Stoner continued.

"The amount of times that guy has had to eat his words is not funny, but people still forgive him for it."
